Elton John has over a thousand pairs, Bappi Lahiri, the Indian music director and king of bling, uses it as one of his trademark, Corey Hart only wears his at night, and you can tell the good guys from the bad guys in The Matrix by the shape of theirs.
They’re Sunglasses of course!! If you haven’t figured it yet…. Whoever thought there was a day like this celebrated nationally.
Now that there is, let us discover a little more about them. The origin of Sunglasses Day is unknown but back in the 14th century in China, judges used to wear smoky eyewear to mask their emotions. As we fast- forward 600 years, sunglasses as we know them today were first marketed by entrepreneur Sam Foster on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
The other important thing to remember is that ‘Sun- Glasses” when worn also protects our eyes from the strong and harmful UV rays of the sun.
Nothing is more stylish than a swanky pair of shades, so bring out your aviators and branded eyewear, up your style quotient and celebrate National Sunglasses Day!
This is me out and about enjoying the day with my two most favorite people. Go on get your pair of shades on and share you’re pictures with me.
